Original oil painting of California Fagonia, a native plant found in Southern California deserts. This small flower is the size of a fingernail and easy to overlook. I found many bushes blooming during the Superbloom of 2019 in the Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Small gorgeously colored flowers, the blooms of California Fagonia (Fagonia laevis) can be easily overlooked. The plant is a small, nondescript bush and only blooms with sufficient rain.
