The bright white blooms of California Mock Orange (Philadelphus lewisii) smell like heaven. The plant grows to a mid size shrub with bright green leaves, and makes a great addition to a native garden with a little extra water. They grow from California to Canada, mostly in mountainous areas such as the western Sierras. I planted some in my garden in Alpine, CA along a deck for their wonderful scent.
